It's a Twinderful Life

Looking For the Silver Lining in All of Life's Clouds

mother’s day thoughts.

Hi Friends,

I’ve missed communicating with all of you through the blog! Eventually I’ll get around to giving you an update on the goings on around here, but for today I wanted to share an awesome article that I read in our local newspaper. It’s written by Mara Kofoed, author of one of my favorite blogs of all time!

As you know, Steve and I have been walking the road of infertility. I know that everyone deals with this trial in their own way (and that this is a very sensitive topic), but for me, it has been (surprisingly) void of pain, fear, and sadness. Why? Maybe it’s a blessing or a spiritual gift. Or maybe it’s because I’ve been trying to live my life in the way Mara describes in the article. Either way, I feel grateful for the perspective that I’ve been given and for the gratitude that I feel for my life every day, even though things turn out in ways unexpected.

For those of you who are walking this path of infertility too, my heart goes out to you. Please know that you’re not alone and that there is still so much beauty left in this life. You are not alone. You are beautiful and loved more than you will ever know.

This Mother’s Day, I will be thinking of you.

perceptions of beauty.

I’ve missed posting lately as things have been CRAZY here, but I came across this today and couldn’t help but share it. I love the message that we need to be kinder and more appreciative of ourselves as women and that others see us much more differently than we see ourselves. How amazing would it be if we all started recognizing and owning our beauty instead of focusing on the things we’d like to change or comparing our beauty to another’s? I hope this uplifts you today.

friendship in marriage.

Happy (Good) Friday everyone! It’s been a while! Just wanted to drop a line to let you know that we are still alive and kicking over here.

I wanted to share this article about why friendship, more than romance, leads to a happy marriage. Fantastic short read! Steve and I started out as friends and then became best friends before we let the romance in and I can truly say that I agree that friendship in a marriage makes everything better.

Also, Happy Easter/Passover/Spring Equinox (and whatever else you might be celebrating)! I hope that your plans for the weekend involve lots of family and relaxation. We celebrate Easter here and I am so grateful for what this holiday represents to me.

And finally, to end this random post, a picture of the beautiful Scarlett. Her cheeks are getting more squishy everyday and I can hardly STAND it!

“i don’t” vs. “i can’t”

I came across this interesting article about how the slightest change in word choice has a very big effect. It’s a short read (2 – 3 minutes) and introduces and AWESOME concept. Enjoy!

lately.

Buckle up because this is going to be a random post. I’ve been spending every waking moment possible with the beautiful Scarlett. I feel like I’m in Heaven, and I’m just her Aunt! She has brought so much joy and gratitude into our lives. I’ve been slightly sleep deprived (no where NEAR how Bre must be feeling) which is why this post is going to be a bunch of pics of what I’ve been crushing on lately. I hope that you enjoy it and that you have a fantastic weekend!

If you see something, say something

I am OBSESSED with this colorful, modern graphic of my favorite city in the entire world. I printed it off and it is now being proudly displayed in my workspace.

"If you see something, say something!" Bringing a new meaning to NY's tag line.

I love this reminder that if I see something good, I should say something (also hanging in my workspace). Whether it be my coworker who is rocking a new skirt, the cashier at the grocery store with the beautiful eyes, or my husband who made the bed just for me (even though he doesn’t see the point of making a bed since “we’re just going to lay in it again in 12 hours”). Who doesn’t love to be noticed for their good qualities?

I want these Salt-Water sandals for summer. They are so cute and look SO comfy and I think a pair in turquoise would represent.

I LOVE the idea of having a small, clean, and modern escape somewhere out in nature. Can you just imagine the natural light that would flood through those windows? Perfection.

And finally, I can’t stop thinking about this place…

Why? Because Steve and I just booked a vacation to go to Hawaii in April! I can hardly believe it! It’s been SO long since we’ve taken a vacation (we’re talking 5 years, people) and we thought it was about time.  We’ll be visiting the islands of Oahu and Maui for 10 days…pure Heaven.

I can hardly wait…
