It's a Twinderful Life

Looking For the Silver Lining in All of Life's Clouds

on January 22, 2013

Top o’ the Tuesday to you. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend (especially since it was a 3-day weekend for most here in the U.S. of A). We had a ton of fun here running errands and setting up more of the nursery for my cute little niece who will be here next month! I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown!

If you’ve followed us from the beginning of this little blog you may remember that I have an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto’s Thyrioditis. This disease manifests itself as an under-active thryoid in my body. Since my diagnosis almost 2 years ago I have been on a journey to try to heal my thyroid and let her know that everything is A-OK. I’ve done a lot of reading, changing my diet, re-evaluating the ways in which I handle stress/exercise, etc. I’ve learned so much along the way and am so grateful for all of the support that I’ve received and continue to receive. It hasn’t been easy, but I feel blessed to say that I have learned so many things about myself along the way that I wouldn’t have learned any other way and I feel stronger for it.

I came across this article whilst perusing my usual blogs that really hit a chord in me because it reminded me what it was like to try to find a doctor who would listen to me without judging me as a hypochondriac/commit to helping me find the right diagnosis. This article comes from a blog I just discovered called Alt-Ternative Universe. If you or someone you know is struggling with an autoimmune condition please know that there is hope and that you’re not alone. You can read the article here.

And if I don’t post anything for the rest of the week, I hope that it’s a fantastic one!
