It's a Twinderful Life

Looking For the Silver Lining in All of Life's Clouds

It’s Thursday, my favorite day of the week. Woohoo! I hope that you’re all just as excited and have something fun planned for the weekend.

We’re getting things ready to move here whilst enjoying our last few days of being downtown-Salt-Lake-City-ites. I didn’t think I would miss our tiny little condo and have been surprised by some of the feelings of nostalgia and sadness that I’ve been experiencing as we get closer to moving day. It’s funny how you end up missing things that you never thought you would. But, as Bre is constantly reminding me lately, “the only constant in life is change.” I’m excited to move on to another life chapter but will thoroughly miss these past 7 years that we’ve spent downtown.

On a happier note, did I mention that Steve and I will be living with BreMiah while we look for a house? One word…PARTY! Seriously, I don’t know if we’re going to be able to handle that much fun in one house, but we’ll try our best.

On to today’s topic – hilarious. I know that I’ve mentioned how blessed I am to have such awesome coworkers. I can’t believe how much I laugh throughout the day – it’s awesome! We can all use a good laugh now and again and, in this vein, I thought I’d share some of the gems that they’ve been sharing lately. Enjoy! (Please note: this may not be as funny to you as it is to me – maybe you’d have to be here to hear it in person? In either case, please accept my apologies if you’re not chuckling by the end of this list)

“Let’s aks the boss.” (Picture a really tall, lanky white guy saying this)

Coworker 1: (Upon seeing one of these in the parking lot) I think they need to come up with a new truck classification for those.

Coworker 2: For what?

Coworker 1: Aren’t the vans with no windows in the back the ones that pedafiles use? They should call it a Pedi Truck. They haven’t really explored that market yet.

(Sung from one coworker to another (who has only daughters) to the tune of “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer”)

“Denis, the emotionally awkward employee,

Lives with a bunch of girls.

And a day doesn’t go by

When he has to buy some pearls (as in Tampax!)”

(Sung from one coworker to another to a tune that I’m not familiar with)

“I want to beat up Denis.

It’s going to be real fun.

I’ll knee him in the spine

And punch him in the bum.”

Background: We were sitting in a meeting when one of my coworkers volunteered to make an uncomfortable phone call to a vendor that we work with. He was met with this response from another one of our team members.

“You take charge – that’s why I’m so attracted to you.”

I hope you got a few laughs in. With all of the busting up that I do around here on a daily basis perhaps I shouldn’t be so worried about my sore lack of working out lately. You know what they say, laughing is like jogging on the inside. And I say, jog on!

Happiness at Work

Happy Monday everyone! We hope that your weekend was fantastic. We had quite an eventful weekend here at Twinderful Life after getting a wild hair to hang out all weekend, sleep-over style. That’s right. BreMiah (celeb nickname for Bre and her husband, Jeremiah) and their cute little Puggle came and slept over in our tiny, currently-under-renovation condo and we had a blast. We celebrated our grandmother’s 85th birthday, went to the Tanger Outlet Stores in Park City, got locked out of the car, broke back into the car (using some galvanized wire, a crow bar, and a flashlight iPhone app), and ate a delicious array of food ranging from mussel shooters at Takashi’s in downtown Salt Lake City (if you haven’t had the mussel shooters there you need to run, don’t walk, to try them. They are our FAV and are TO DIE FOR!) to a homemade pot roast with carrots and potatoes for dinner on Sunday night. We watched scary movies, squished the pups, and laughed a lot.  The only thing that wasn’t fab is the fact that it all went by so quickly, but we are grateful for the fun memories. Please enjoy the following documentation:

On Friday night Steve took me on a date to one of my all-time FAVORITE places here in SLC. It’s a French bakery called Gourmandise and I’ve never had something there that I didn’t love.

Bre homemade this pink lemonade cake for our grandmother’s 85th birthday celebration. I only had a bite (since it was chalk full of gluten, dairy, end eggs) but it was SO good.

The cake – complete with 85 (count them) candles. Grandma still blew them all out in one breath. We’ll she how she does when we hit 100.

My new glasses finally arrived and I can see again! It’s a miracle. I am LOVING them.

Even after 7 years of marriage this tall drink of water still gives me butterflies. Who knew someone could look so good while waiting to be seated at a restaurant?

Cuddle time with Sparky. He’s such a cute little guy.

Towards the end of the weekend Porsche was pooped. She cracks me up.

Which brings me to today’s post. Mondays. Most people that I’ve run into either love them or hate them. For me, Mondays lately have been fantastic! Since making a recent job change I’ve begun to feel like one of the luckiest employees at work. I actually find myself looking forward to Mondays instead of dreading them, which is a feeling that I’ve been missing for a while. Why? Because the new team I am on is so AWESOME! Seriously. They are the type of people that are naturally funny and most days I’m laughing every other minute or at least smiling all day. They crack me up with their wit and I can’t believe how quickly the day flies by.

Allow me to give you a peek into my typical day at work. This morning, for example,  I’ve already had a good “jogging-on-the-inside” after hearing this little gem from one team member to the other: “You shut your mouth when you’re talking to me!” I’ve been told that this is a quote from a movie, but nevertheless it was very authentic coming out of this particular team member’s mouths and I thought it was a riot. Later in the day I fully expect to hear a medley of made-up lyrics to the tune of “Sunshine On My Shoulders” by John Denver that’ll consist of something like this: “Denis on my shoulder makes me happy. Denis is my buddy and my friend.” And what makes this even more funny is the fact that Denis is French Canadian and his name is really pronounced Denee, but my coworker who will serenade will sing it as a good old-fashioned Denis with an ‘s.’ And perhaps before the end of the day today, I’ll hear something like “[Insert name here], I love you so much. I’m just so glad that I get to spend so much time with you every day” (said sarcastically to mask the awkwardness that would exist since a guy is saying this to another guy, but deep down you know the feelings are genuine).  And then I’ll go home and tell Steve all about the funny stuff that happened, we’ll get a good laugh out of it, and I’ll get to come to work tomorrow with high hopes for a repeat performance. Seriously, coworkers can make all the difference. I am one blessed girl.

Do you have any coworkers or people at work that make you laugh and that make Mondays memorable? We’d love to hear all about it.

P.S. Our summer is in full swing here at Twinderful Life and you’ve probably noticed that lack of a sustained daily post. We’ve decided that we’re going to go off and enjoy our summer to the fullest so this may be a continuing trend over the next couple of months until all of the festivities wind down (2 – 3 posts/week). Just know that we haven’t forgotten about you, we love hearing from you, and we hope that you’re enjoying your summer as much as possible as well!
