It's a Twinderful Life

Looking For the Silver Lining in All of Life's Clouds

Currently

Happy Saturday everyone. We’ve had a busy day here clearing the clutter and putting the final touches on our condo before we put it on the market next week. Pics will be coming soon. In the meantime, I saw this post idea on Jones Design Company, who got the idea from Lemonade Makin’ Mama, and thought it was fun and would give you a sneak peek into my life right now. So without further ado…

reading: How Will You Measure Your Life by Clayton M. Christensen. It is SO fantastic so far and I would highly recommend it.

waiting for: Christmas. Random, I know, but the other day I had this amazingly strong yearning for snow, Christmas music, and hot chocolate by the fire.

excited about: An upcoming vacation with my sweetheart. We’re thinking Hawaii, but haven’t made any final decisions yet. I’ll keep you posted.

missing: The first two months of summer. I can’t believe they’re over already!

trying to: Muster up the energy to tackle the last think on our “get the condo ready to sell” list – painting the bathroom.

working on: Staging the condo (noticing a trend yet?)

enjoying: This article on Apartment Therapy about 10 Simple Things to Make You Happier At Home. SO FANTASTIC! I’m really trying to be better at making my bed in the morning and I do notice that it makes me happier!

using: Boots Moisture Quench Night Cream. It was on clearance at Target, it’s hypoallergenic, and I’ve heard good things about it. I’ve only used it for the past two night but I love how it’s fragrance free and makes my skin feel ultra moisturized but not oily.

planning: A few exciting posts. I know a secret that is SO fantastic but my lips are currently sealed. I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

singing: Anything with a dance beat. I’ve been feeling the need to shake my groove thang lately and anything with a beat has been right up my alley.

needing: More (and more restful) sleep. I don’t know what’s been going on lately but I’ve been randomly waking up several times a night. I feel uncomfortable but usually fall right back to sleep. Needless to say this interruption in my R.E.M. cycle is catching up with me.

learning: Patience. Then again, when am I not. 🙂

listening: to the hilarious antics of my coworkers. They are seriously some of the funniest people I know, and I feel blessed to work with them.

wishing: for someone who is going to love our condo and wants to snatch it up right after we put it on the market.

doing: watching the Olympics. The opening ceremony was long but pretty cool. At this very moment I’m watching Women’s Beach Volleyball and Team U.S.A. just won. Represent!

praying for: My husband in his job. It’s pretty stressful being a social worker in the NICU and he does a fantastic job, but I can imagine how draining this is. I’m praying that he continues to have enough energy, stamina, and support from his coworkers.

dreaming of: our new house! I’m excited/nervous about starting our search and hope that we can find the place that we’re supposed to live in.

There you have it, a mini snapshot of my life. I hope that you are all having a fantastic weekend with the perfect ratio of fun and relaxation!

There is no Arizona, no painted desert, no Sedona…

Well… actually there is, but I really love that song so I had to make a reference. We had a BLAST in Arizona for our girls trip this last week. It was gorgeous! This was our first attempt at a girl’s trip and I’ll tell you what… we can’t wait to plan the next one. Don’t get us wrong, we love our husbands, but there was something so relaxing about just hangin’ out with the girls by the pool and taking it easy. We all returned refreshed. I can honestly say it was the most relaxing trip I have ever had. To sum it up, I’ll zip my lip and show you the fun we had through pictures. We heart you Arizona and we hope to see you again very soon!

We had fun doing each other’s hair… here is a single-braid hair wreath on Britt

My Momma’s beautiful hair

Double-braided hair wreath on Bre

Bre & Mom at a FAB Mexican Restaurant called Tia Rosa

Britt & our friend Jerolyn who lives in Mesa at Tia Rosa

Beautiful lit tree at Tia Rosa

Beautiful Mesa, Arizona Temple… I LOVE the architecture!

We had the coolest fire pit right outside our room… warming the toesies

This bird loved our patio chair so much he decided to poop on it and then hang out next to it

This is my attempt at taking a cool picture of Mom & Britt while hiking

We had dinner on a roof in Cave Creek… very cool atmosphere

Love us some HIKING!

My new addictions… sooooo good

Love me my Whole Foods salad bar and they had one just a few miles away from the resort… SCORE!

Crazy fun vacation nails… HEART!

As you can see, we had an absolute blast and we would recommend hangin’ with the girls in Arizona the first chance you get. We hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day!

Gettin’ our vacation on, Carefree-style.

Holy Cow, kids! We have hit the jackpot!  Who knew that Arizona was such an amazingly beautiful place? We originally choose this vaca spot because we knew it would be warm with lot’s of sunshine (and we found a Groupon for this aweso me resort that we’re staying at) and have been stunned by how gorgeous it is here. We’ve slept in every day, laid out by the pool, eaten naughty things, and have just enjoyed being together. We don’t make plans, we just wake up every morning and do whatever we feel like doing. It is fantastic! A girl could get used to this…

Another shocker – Carefree, AZ (just north of Scottsdale) is probably the wealthiest place we’ve encountered – even more so than Beverly Hills! Seriously, when we first arrived we started noticing that almost every car we passed was amazingly luxurious – Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Corvette, and the list goes on. Last night after eating our grass-fed Black Angus burgers (we have NEVER been to a restaurant that offers grass-fed beef before coming here – another sign of ritziness) we drove to a Target and Breanna counted 28 luxury cars in a pretty empty parking lot. The target itself was the most beautiful one we’ve ever seen. If it hadn’t been for the sign out front we might have mistaken it for some kind of fancy spa or gym or something. It was so clean inside, EVERYTHING was in its place, and the place was empty – at 9 PM at night. That never happens at home, and it was so nice to have the store all too ourselves (and we got a little crazy, as you’ll see in the pics below).

By this point we decided to do some google research on our phones to see just how rich the residents here are and, guess what, there are 5 BILLIONAIRES that live here. The median home price is over 1 MILLION dollars, and the MEDIAN income per person is $40 K/year (compared to a national average of $20 k/year). Wowsers! I guess we should have known this on day one when we went to a matinée showing of What to Expect When You’re Expecting (such a great show) and paid $15 PER TICKET and sat in LEATHER SOFA CHAIRS. And don’t even get me started on the amazingly gorgeous bathroom in the place (pictured below).

Moral of the story, everyone needs to come and visit this place at least once in their lifetime. And come in May. The temps aren’t too hot and the place is practically deserted. We feel like we’re sharing the entire resort with maybe 15 other people. It rocks!

We hope that you and yours are planning a fantastic, relaxing Memorial Day weekend. Chat with you later!

Mom & Me getting ready for take-off.

Mom &  Bre having WAY to much fun at target

Our Brie, cherry compote, and pecan appetizer at dinner – SO delish!

They have a Trader Joe’s here. We’ve missed having one close by. And this cookie butter – not an ounce of healthy in it but it is SO GOOD!

Our home away from home. They’re taking good care of us here.

The botanical garden at the resort.

The view from our walk-out porch – just ten steps from the pool. That’s how we roll…

The bathroom at the movie theater…OMG.
